Gideon Abowha (b. Nigeria) is a visual artist currently based in London, United Kingdom, working primarily in mixed media painting.
His ongoing series Ceremonies of Becoming reflects on how rituals from his Nigerian heritage — Mursi, Fulani, Yoruba dancers, the Durbar Festival and the Argungu Fishing Festival — continue to resonate and evolve in the diaspora context, layering acrylic, fabric, beads, and newsprint to honour the dignity, joy, and resilience embedded in African cultural expressions.
